Do we have any dgrinners in Rome? What great photo ops the next month! And it only happens a couple of times in a lifetime. I'm tempted to quit my job, ditch my family, and hop a jet this evening.
Anyone who is there, post, post, and post again, please.

There is an Italian expression that I probably can't spell, "On amorta di papa." Literally translated, it's "on the death of a pope." But in usage, it means, "Once in a very long while." So, "On amota di papa, I go visit my second cousin's family."
On amora di papa, I split from my job and family and go take pictures in Rome. Probably no hotel rooms there, though. Cartier-Bresson would be there, you bet.

I bet there are some good photos in Boston, Rutt. It is highly Catholic from what I have heard. I saw some photos from there in USA today, but they didn't WOW me.
In fact, Africa might be a good place, too. There are already photographers in Rome.............and other than the "smoke", that story was done all weekend. Not to be calloused or anything.
Does anyone else think the Pope looks kind of small the way he is laid out. Looks scary to me. I have never seen anyone laid out who wasn't in a box.
ginger (Yeah, I really am Catholic.)

I looked around Boston and all the good shots were inside of the churches, especially the big cathedral. It seemed disrespectful for me to go in and shoot, so I didn't. I think you are right about that the best moment in Rome would have been last weekend, but the funeral will be good, too. And what about the announcement of the new pope? Won't there be some kind of big coronation?
