Ain't got no money, but I need to buy a portable PC with a reasonably good display to process and upload photos using lightroom. As always, very concerned about buying something underpowered. Expect to batch process 200-300 pics at a sitting.
Any good experiences with Recent Portables processing images? Specific model and or processor would be appreciated. Cost?

I have personal experience with a IBM Thinkpad T40. It is a Pentium M, not a dual core, but Lightroom works just fine. I recommend 1GB of memory at least, but memory is cheap these days ( try newegg)
The reason I mention this particular machine is because 1) they are built to last forever, and 2) there are lots of them coming off-lease, or refurbished for $400 or so:

Last year I got a Toshiba A135-S4527 Satellite for around $500 after rebate. It has an Intel Video card, Pentium Dual Core 1.7GHz processor, 120GB SATA hard drive, and a DvD Burner. It came with 512MB of memory and I have upgraded to 2GB memory for around $100. It does Lightroom pretty well.
Last year you could find these types of deals at Best Buy some had mail-in rebates and some had instant rebates. I like the Toshiba Satellite because it gets rid of the heat very well and you can run it on your lap without it becoming uncomfortable. I haven't checked this year but keep an eye out at Best Buy and Office Depot for deals like this. They do show up.
