I think I fell headlong into this image and got stuck trying to come out. So much to see! Is that a door handle I see in there too? :scratch

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even notice the thing that Schmoo pointed out. It's not a door handle, but it is a piece of hardware, maybe an old padlock. I suppose I should get rid of it. This was really more of an experiment than anything, so I didn't spend much time on details.

It's a composite of three photos: one of the neck of my guitar and two shots of pieces of cellos taken through the shop window of an old luthier in my neighborhood. Combine ingredients in a large bowl, add Photoshop and stir. :D Sadly, the luthier has moved to newer quarters and the old stuff is gone.

That said... if I may say.... IMHO :bow

I am having trouble trying to decide if the 3 prominent black shapes
work for me though they were the elements, in part, that clued me
into what I might be seeing. Maybe its just the part black circle to
far right that doesn't seem fit.... maybe if it wasn't black but wood
grained as similar to what you have on the left side... don't know.

Then maybe a very slight bump to saturation. Say just the yellow.

Again, its a really sweet piece of work. If you do more to it I would
really like to see it. Michael

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Michael. I think you're right about the black on the far right. I'm pretty sure I can fix that by adjusting one of the masks. As you say, the f holes help make it clear what you are looking at, so I don't think I will change these. I already increased the overall saturation some and will play around with it some more. All the usual rules of thumb about sharpness, contrast, color and the like go out the window when you are trying to make it look like an 80 year old cubist painting--think Braque, Gris or Picasso. It's fun, actually. I have a couple of others I am working on, but it looks like I had better stop playing and start working if I'm going to end up with something decent.
