Hi!

A friend's band was playing the Troubadour this past Thursday and Friday and he was kind enough to get me photo passes for both nights. After about 400 shots, little sleep and a few beers, I ended up with a number of pics that may actually worth something. I'm still new and other than shooting pics of the moon, this was the first real low light condition with action that I have done.

Anyway, this pic stuck out and I decided (with a reason), that it should be B&W. I'm thinking of making a large print out of it for my wall, but am a little undecided on how to deal with the microphone in the right side of the image. One thought would be to take it out and keep the right dark, but I think it should stay in. Originally, it was in focus and bright (distracting).

Any thoughts?

TIA!

The first attempt at 4:30 this morning.

I think you're off to a fine start, Dave.:thumb Regarding the microphone, I don't think it really adds much to the shot. In fact, I would consider going for a square crop, eliminating much of the right side. Just a thought. :dunno

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your kind words. I had played with cropping the right side out as well. I found a place online that will make 20"x30" prints for 10 bucks. I may give it a go each way.

Here's the band. Anyone recognize them?

They are a Ska band. More or less. I dig the sound. Happiness.

That takes the fun out of it.:D

They are a great live band (as well as studio). Todd has a fantastic voice and is a great guitar player as well. I really appreciate that they let me take pictures both nights. Bring my D100 w/70-200mm was a treat, they have an open photography policy, but with point and shoots. Definitely a challenge with the low lights and randomly changing colors, but fun and worth the experience.
