any way to make home page "shorter"

I would like to make my home page shorter, so its more together and you dont have to scroll down and then back up. Also is there a way to get rid of the half border around the slide show, or can I change the color of it so it "disapears"? Reducing the height of your show would help. Change the height to 400 in your bio and see if that is close to what you want.

Add this to your CSS to center the show.
