Hi all,
This has probably been answered before, so feel free to point me to another thread, but I am looking for the best way to tag my photos (those already on SmugMug and future photos that will be uploaded).
My goal is to tag the photos I like best with key words (i.e. names of people, places, etc...), so they can be quickly loaced. I found the "thumbs up", was extremely easy, but am not sure how this will benefit me. Ideally, a drop down box of custom tags would be helpful. I gave a green thumbs up to a few photos, but they did not show on my homepage. Probably a misunderstanding on my part. :scratch
The photos are private, and threads seemed to indicate that tagging wasn't necessary for private photos, but if they work the way I think they do, I'm not sure why. I ended up tagging a bunch of shots with the first three letters of my daughter's name, then found that 3 letters is too short to search. That was a setback. :cry
Seems some people use software to tag photos BEFORE they upload? That sounds helpful. I'm imagining a "batch tagger" of some sort. Is there such a thing? And do they upload the tags to SmugMug to be searched at a later time? That would fix all future photos - but photos already uploaded would probably need to be tagged on a one by one basis.
Sorry for the multitude of questions. I know there is some real experience in this forum and I am at the other end of the spectrum (complete picture novice). If anyone can help get me started in the right direction I would greatly apprecaite it! :bow
