Hi,

Im in the process of signing up for shutterstock and am curious how many other people use it and did you feel confident sending them a copy of your ID (ie passport) as proof of identity.

Im slightly nervous about sending id to them and guess I just need reassurance its ok (or not ok :) )

Thanks

I'd be nervous about that, too. But I'm not sure that I would even want to sign up for any royalty-free program myself in the first place.

I'll primarily be putting images which either are not large enough (and upsizing isnt possible) or I dont think are worth putting on sites like Alamy or Getty.

This way at least they get some usage rather than just sitting on my hard drive taking up valuable space.

Funny story.....

I sent them my drivers license and they sent back a reply saying it was rejected because they do not accept national ID cards and would need a passport, and that only in the United States do they accept drivers license.

I sent them a JPG scan of a map of the united states with New Mexico circled and then they accepted my drivers license.

lol, thats funny. Hopefully they know more about stock photography than geography :)

Im sure they can be trusted, its just a passport is such a valuable document, not sure i want someone else having a copy of it.
