What does one need in macro? Light, light, more light, some more light, and just a little more light. Man indoors, in the evening and no real close light source make focusing and hand holding a macro shot almost impossible. I am now on a mission to create a miners cap light for my macro lens. If the reusult turn out favorable, I'll post a how do.

Last night I was out in the garage with a flashlight, holding the camera (my little Sony T1) in one hand, and a crawling bug on a pebble in the other. To say it was a challenge is an understatement!

H: Like you, I found that I needed a good light just to focus by. I velcro'd a little Rayovac headlamp to the lens of my 717. It has a very powerful main lamp, and a couple of LEDs too.

You did fine with that bug though, nice shot.

I'll be checking out various LED head band products and then I'll run some tests. I have a feeling I'll need to build my own diffuser for the set up also, since the LEDs can be somewhat bright and may wash out the shot too much.

I'll post some eaxamples after I'm finished.

Ahhhhhhh I have this problem all the time when I find bugs, rarely do I find one that is not dirty, got something stuck on it, fluffy, or dusty....... dunno what the deal is cause I have seen so many awesome Macro with Crispy Clean Critters.....maybe they wash em first then take their picture ??
