Saw this guy as I drove over the river bridge, parked up and walked back to the river but he was not keen of moving out of the reeds.

Moved along the bank a bit and got a slihtly better angle of him

I'm glad you had a change of pace from ducks. Shame that he wasn't more cooperative with you.
You have to visit Florida soem time. You'll find the birds here to be a whole lot less shy.

Thanks Harry, I was a little miffed as I was hoping to get a few other birds but I think they must have decided to take a short break somewhere else, saw a couple of swans building a nest but did not get a good shot, some more mallards!! Could here a few little birds twittering away in the bushes but dammed if I could see them :scratch

Its just further proof of my belief that birds are evil creatures. If you find one in the open they are invariably back lit, when you have good light on them they are obscured by branches, leaves, etc. You can spend two hours looking at a bird, waiting for it to do something groovy, and you get nada. The moment you turn away or take a second out to 'chimp' an image that will be the precise moment they catch a fish, fly or do the macarena. :bash

Only once, and this was like 25 years ago, me and my Yashika350 were trying to get pics of Birds at our feeder.
Well a Black Capped Chickadee kept landing on the lens and looking in it...creating a blob.:rofl
People driving by were honking and pointing.
This went on for about 15 minutes, I always wish someone had a pic of me trying to take pics that day.:lust

I can sympathize and what Harry said is so true!

An all this time I thought it was just happening to me!:rofl :rofl :rofl
I had a Bald Eagle w/ a prey item in it's talons fly over our back yard today at about 15 yards... no camera in site and it was the first eagle i'd seen in three years. I think I heard it laugh as it flew past.
