My domain provider is Yahoo and I succesfully point to smugmug. I have provided the domain name: www.gundogphotos.com (http://www.gundogphotos.com) within the Custom Host Name box in Customization.
Where am I missing the boat on eliminating the .smugmug from the viewable url when viewers arrive at the site?
AT one time it seems I had it but through various updates a viewer still sees www.gundogphotos.smugmug.com (http://www.gundogphotos.smugmug.com) when they hit the site.
Thanks much,
Al

your domain is hitting this IP
216.39.62.121
which is not SmugMug.
I'll ask Doc (our CNAME expert) to pop over here and help you.

The domain is not set up correctly, or it is, but it was done really recently and the changes haven't transfered yet:

The CNAME needs to point to 'www.smugmug.com'. An A-record for '@' should be created to point to 63.81.134.23
Any form of 'forwarding' is bad.

I took a look also and it seems that your CNAME is pointed at gundogphotos.smugmug.com that needs to be www.smugmug.com
If not, you will get the exact behavior you are describing. If you need help, give me a shout on the help desk.

No. Is the SM site your only website associated with gundogphotos.com?

There should be exactly ONE a record.. and it should be for gundogphotos.com and it should point to the IP for SM
There should be ONE cname, and it should be www.gundogphotos.com (http://www.gundogphotos.com) and it should point to www.smugmug.com (http://www.smugmug.com)
Do **NOT** remove the mail. cname

David - thanks. As you see below - I tried deleting in order to get to just 1 CName and 1 A Record. In doing so the settings still default to giving 2 CNames. I deleted ALL entries and started over but it came back to having two Cnames?? Know the url takes me to the Yahoo parking lot - is it possible it will take a few minutes to transfer since I cleared the Cname and A Record?

What you have will work (although you have superfluous stuff there, it's no big deal..). Give it an hour or two to update.
It is working for me though.

Ivar - thanks! Where did you come up with the IP address? Would it be the same for another Pro account? I need to do the same for my second Pro account:
www.pamjamesonphotography.com (http://www.pamjamesonphotography.com)
