Just the one doggie. In the ATL there's a fenced-in 'dog park' within a larger public park. Doggies have the run of, and fight of the place. Kinda cool. A few weeks ago I wandered down, and late in the day decided to try shooting the dogs.
The sun was fast sinking below the horizon, and it was a cloudy day anyway, so the light wasn't all that great. I had the 70-200 at f2.8, sucking in all the light I could get. I nudged the ISO up to 320, prolly should have been higher. Read all about it in my upcoming publication, "The Zone, And How To Miss It."
Anyway, mostly the dogs were rambunctious, couldn't really get a good shot. The autofocus was a wee bit slow because of the low light. Plus, at f2.8 and somewhat zoomed out, my depth of field was pretty darn narrow.
Then somehow I became the center of this guy's universe. He spotted me from a decent distance away. And he came straight towards me, not fast, but never hesitating and never taking his eyes off of me. I have a bunch of wildly out of focus shots as I tried to track him. Unlucky for him the little beggar stopped long enough for my sorry technique to catch up and get a shot. He just stared. I figured he would start barking at the lens, so I eventually lowered it. Satisfied, he walked away.
Kinda spooky.

I love it when dogs are so focused. I think this is some kind of husky. From what little I know about them, they have a lot of wolf in them. They are domesticated, but are very intelligent and think for themselves.
Sometimes their eyes are different colors. Was that true of this one? It looks like it might have been. If so, maybe rethink the B&W conversion. If not, then I think the conversion is a good idea because it made me wonder about this.

Yeah, Huskies are beautiful dogs and you captured this one really well. They do have wolf in them, I've had a few friends that have had Huskies. They don't bark, they make a weird yowling sound instead. They can also be pretty destructive, they seem to love to chew on wood, and that includes table legs and kitchen cabinets.

Good point. I went back and looked at the color. The eyes sure are different colors. I had thought the right eye was shaded for some reason. now I see that it is in fact a dark brown or black.

So, Sid, post a color version, please. If right eye is really blue, you can use LAB curves to make it bluer without changing the rest of the image. Could be very dramatic.

Nah, it's not blue. Even when I crank up the RAW exposure, there's no color in there.

Did you try cranking up the saturation?

Waxy, nice DOF. Good doggie shot.
Having owned a shepard/husky at one time, I can attest to their
sometimes destructive and curious nature. They are good dogs
though.

Good one Sid. I really like the b&W treatment on this shot (I don't give a hoot as to the color of his eyes :D ).

Thanks Harry, I appreciate it. I'm short on hoots, tho, so I could use one when you do give 'em out.
