actually just the opposite. the detail in the background cushion is distracting. i think a totally black b/g would have proven dramatic with this lighting scheme.

I'm with Angelo - the background needs to be totally black without detail, and the fret needs to be lighter and brighter to capture and hold our interest. :thumb

Do it with PS or another image editor. Here is a quick mod that only moves the middle slider in levels.
