Don't quite understand what you mean, you banner is a set size image.

You want nav and banner on opposite sides that slide towards each other
when window is stretched back and forth?

I would like it to reach farther across the page all together so do I need to make my banner longer? Or is the putting them on opposite sides the answer?

There are many different page width's, so your current banner image if aligned
on the right side would leave a big gap between it and the nav on wide pages.

You could use a wider banner image for the wider pages.

What could probably be done is align nav left and banner right each with a
margin from each side and then they would slide towards each other as page
is stetched back and forth.

I guess Ill let it be if I could get some of the space removed from between the slideshow and banner it would help. And there is a brown bar on my other galleries under the banner if I could put a narrow version of that on the homepage it would be great, thanks for your help.
Happy Easter!
