Glitz and Glamour PART 2 (pano)

Last night's pano was not what I wanted so I went to the same little mountain and retook it. This time I feel it turned out much better. What do you think? :)
There are still a few kinks to work out but here's the current result.

This pano gives me a very hard time... On one end I see the potential of the picture that probably comes to live in the full version of the picture, on the other end I just see the downsampled version so I can only imagine what it would look like fully... If I set my mind to it and try to extrapolate this into the full picture I think it is an awesome pano :clap For now it is just too small :dunno
The colors are magnificent though and the impression of the city with all its lights is *There* :thumb

Thanks, Mike! Believe me, it looks great full sized. :) I wanted to show more of the sky this time to show more of the Luxor's light shooting into the sky and I also liked the clouds/light that looked like they were eminating out of the Stratoshphere Tower. :)

And are you using a pano bracket?

Much improved over the last one. :thumb Even the sky is more interesting.

I still think reducing the exposure by 1/2 stop to 1 stop would sharpen the bright lights and the brightly lit areas a bit more without compromising the rest of the shot.

IMHO if you want more drama I would :
Select only the distant mtns. and bring them out of the shadows a bit, this I believe would add depth and drama :scratch

Much more dramatic and this time the color balance looks a lot better to me. I think it helps that there are light sources that are more neutral and even downright cool to counterbalance the yellow ones. Also the blue in the sky (love the drama in this sky!) helps make the color balance look more natural to my eye.

A beautiful pano.

I have some friends who live in LV and I visit them sometimes. I'd never go otherwise, but when I do it's like visiting a highly evolved by very alien planet.

USAIR, for this pano I was using the 70-200 2.8L IS. I used a regular ol Bogen 3001BN tripod with a pan/tilt head. No special equipment. I just shot about 8 or 9 vertical shots then cropped off the top and bottom where I wanted. I shot this way for a few reasons but mainly because the city here is at an angle so shooting vertical is much more convenient. Hard to explain. :) Glad you liked it! And hey! I've got a few from down there :)

Jerry, thank you! You're probably right, but I think I would have to lightened a lot of dark areas and bring out a lot of noise had I underexposed it a bit. Night photoography is quite forgiving I think. :)

bfjr, thanks! Neither do I! :) Those mountains are only interesting with no haze covering them and at sunrise. That's when they look their best. Eventually I'll get a sunrise view. haha
