I just shot these for the Fred Miranda WA tools, but they'll work here as well.
This is a Lieca IIIf, circa about 1950. My all time favorite photographer, Cartier-Bresson (http://www.afterimagegallery.com/bresson.htm), used this model for his pictures after the war (he upgraded when this model came out and rumor had it that he never upgraded again). He never used anything other than the 50mm f2 lens (and no cropping!) He wrote that he would have liked to shoot in color, but the film wasn't good enough (I think he meant fast enough.)

Well as we all know, the equipment does not make the photographer. These are the 1st shots from the new 10d. It is going to take a while to learn this thing, but it will be a blast while I'm learning.
1st: A picture of a new version of some classic circles. Mud on the bumper and all!
http://hutch.smugmug.com/photos/3108169-L.jpg
The next picture comes from just up the street from me. See how may circles you can count in this one! A great big ADVrider Salute to the winner!
http://hutch.smugmug.com/photos/3108262-L.jpg
The next shot is for all of you who live in the wet part of the country. This is a center pivot irrigation device. One of many that dot the landscape in this part of the country. If you have ever flown over the dryer parts of the western US and noticed green circles on the the ground, they are caused by one of these. Hence the name, "circle."
http://hutch.smugmug.com/photos/3108167-L.jpg
The next circle is something we all use every day.
http://hutch.smugmug.com/photos/3108171-L.jpg
Yes it's wheel. (more correctly tire and wheel) However, most of us don't have their wheels attached to something like this:
http://hutch.smugmug.com/photos/3108170-L.jpg
They have monster trucks and mud boggers running tonight indoors. I guess I'll have to see what kind of pics this thing will take there.

For the high speed shots I set the shutter speed at 1000, this is 1/1000th of a sec right? Messed with the ISO which didn't seem to make a difference. Used regular flash to stop the image. And perched the camera on a homemade tripod of a few coasters.
The food coloring/water ones were taken in a white bowl nearly full of water and I was dropping the water by hand using a peice of hose for an aquarium air pump. The first shot was no food color, the second two of course had red.
The last shot was coffee landing in much more shallow water in a blue bowl. The drops also came from farther up. I cuoldn't reach high enough to manually drop the coffee, so I rigged up an acclimation hose from the old aquarium. (This is a piece of 1/4" vinyl hose with a valve on the end to control the drip speed. I was having bad luck on the timing, so I sped up the drip to about 3 per second, then I hit a decent shot much more often.
All shots were manual focus.
All in all, it was pretty fun. Next I'll have to go out and get some apples and a 22!

I used the digital blending from Luminous Landscape. Then Zero-Zero figured out he might have made a mistake.
I used it on the sign - it's impossible for a digicam to properly expose both the neon sign, and also the interior of the restaurant. So I made exposures for the people, and also for the sign. Then blended the dark sign onto the light interior. Also some other stuff to fix the wicked white balance... but that's quick work.
Here's the link (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=392) to our thread, with Z-Z's correct directions.
You gotta have your paintbrush colors as black and white. If you use the black paintbrush, you reveal the darker image. And If you use the white paintbrush, you reveal the light image.
Here's the link (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/digital-blending.shtml) on Luminous Landscape.
Mine may not be an award winning photo, but I'm proud that both the sign and the interior of the restaurant look as crisp and as correct as they do.

One porblem with this assignment is that it's all too easy to end up with circles without really meaning to. THere are so many circles.
I wan't thinking about circles at all when I took this:
http://rutt.smugmug.com/photos/3108019-L.jpg
I did mean to take this. I don't think it's nearly as interesting as the unintended circles:

My first submission since installing Gentoo. I think you guys might be blown away with the new tools (or the new look at least? I need to get back to my research once I've got the OS better situated) I'm finding in GIMP (specifically, new dialog boxes opening up with this emerge of the GIMP prior to the latest - unstable, IIRC - GIMP upgrade; specifically "Layers, Channels, Paths" all in one box). In any event, I took these last weekend, and may be hitting the glassy orbs later this week.. so much to do, so much to do. This was taken with the 0.3 neutral density filter, shutter speed of 1/1000, can't recollect my aperture-f/stop setting. :dunno (I'm so bad about this sort of thing..)
Oh yeah! <smacks forehead> I used the STARSIX filter for this one, too! Sheesh.
