We had a blast yesterday meeting up with Andy, Steve and Ian. You just couldn't ask for a better group of folks to go out a shoot with.
After meeting up in Moss Landing we gave Elkhorn Slough a try. The local wildlife seemed a bit camera shy, but we did have a couple visitors.

After that we had lunch and then up to Santa Cruz, just couldn't ask for better weather.

After saying our goodbyes the family and I headed back to Monterey, My daughter really wanted to see the Great White Shark at the aquarium.

On our way out of town we were treated with a full moon rising over Monterey Bay

Very nice series. #1 is a wonderful capture. What are the cameras and the huge glass that was being used?

awesome, ed :D i'm so glad you got to the aquarium, i'm sure your daughter really appreciated that!
lovely shots. and a contribution to egret-fest, to boot!
gary, the big glass in the photo, that's courtesy of ian's collection - he's carrying a canon 500 f/4L and i'm carrying his 300 f/2.8L.... it was fun to be able to shoot with both lenses!

Thanks Andy, I saw some folks with that big glass when I was in Death Valley a couple of weeks ago. I may be developing lens envy!

Ed,
You got some excellent shots :thumb :thumb Well, cept for that buttshot of those three old dewds ....lol Love the Wharf panorama, too :thumb :thumb
I had a blast yesterday :clap :clap Not that we knocked em dead on the photography front. But we did shoot everything that was available. So no regrets there. Getting to meet you and your beautiful family and all the walking talking and laughing we did, was the main treat for me. Your daughter is a real trooper (she outwalked me that's for sure....lol) and I'm so glad she got to see the Great White. She took it so well when you said we probably wouldn't hit it as a group, I'm glad you rewarded her. She definitely deserved it :D
Not only do you take excellent piccies Ed, you are one lucky dewd :super

Hiya Missy :wave
Speaking for myself, the pleasure was all mine. I was a little concerned when Ed told me he was bringing the family. I guess, in my mind, I was relating it to bringing my wife and daughter :yikes My worries were unfounded. As your pics show, you are an accomplished photographer, in you own right :thumb As for our guide, we couldn't have asked for a better behaved, or more well mannered point person :clap :clap It didn't hurt that she was cute as a button too ....lol
Anyhow Missy, these are some very nice shots of some veryyy skeery looking subjects.....LOL They were so skeery, I had to cut them out of the reply :lol
Again, I had a ball and much of it was due to yourself and your family :-)

Hiya Steve,
It was so nice to meet you, I finally took sometime to sort through pictures and get to see some of your work and all I can say is wow. I am glad we eased your worries, were not the typical family. I think we are both extremely lucky we both love the same things and try to do things together. I love learning and taken photographs. We are fans of each others and like to encourage and give each other a bad time.. All in fun of course...
Our little girl is awesome but I think it is because she has always been included in everything we do. We would both feel guilty just leaving her with our parents so she has had to learn alot like how to act around others. Yet we let her be a kid to she can be a great kid as well.
Yet she I think has alot of knowledge because of the things we have all done, like at school I heard her tell her teacher she wanted to be a marine biologist, the teacher said you want to work at Sea World, she said no I want to study whales in the wild, there supposed to be free. I had this huge smile on my face and I learned something as well, because we don't preach that as our feelings on things, it was the fact that she has seen whales in the wild I believe while we take pictures and she came to her own conclusion that she feels they belong in the wild.

Steve,
I saw that just a little bit ago, I'm sure glad I made the decision to take my daughter over there, because I never would have heard the end of it if she hadn't got a chance to see it. 'whew'
