I got a good deal on a used Canon 300 F4L USM IS lens this week and took it out for the first time yesterday at an LA Angels spring training game in Tempe, AZ. Wow, what a difference it makes compared to the shots I'd get with my old 75-300mm F4-F5.6 IS lens! Better color, much sharper, and FAST autofocus. Definitely worth the money. I'm using the lens with a Canon 40D.

Here's a few pics from yesterday...

The colors are indeed fantastic :thumb

You need to change your light metering to meter on the face though. All of the faces are too dark. It is okay to blow out some of the other areas - it is the face that matters! :deal

I like the 1st shot the best but I think you should crop the left side in to between the guy and girl in the 1st row of the crowd. This will make the pitcher a little less centrally composed and should help to create a little more of a 'motion' feel.

way to underexposed with out the faces these are just snap shots I don't know how you were metering these but I'll bet you your histogram is way over on the shadow side Bump your ISO up keep your SS above 1200
