In case you are wondering all pictures were shot with my XTi and 400mm 5.6.

Hi Brenton, Wonderful shots, all of them. I often wonder about the 400 5.6 as I always hear good things about it. Your photos prove all the good comments I have heard.
I have a 100-400 but have never had much luck with it for BIF's. I used it at an air show this summer and the shots were great (different birds though). Might have to trade it in since it is usually at 400 all the time anyway..:rofl

Thanks Chris! I love the 400mm 5.6, and I also have the 100-400mm, but the prime is my favorite for birds. I find it more comfortable to hold and I think it produces better pictures all around, but the zoom is close to it. If you are at 400mm all of the time then the prime makes sense.
