It looks like you're still using the old slideshow hack. I've seen a number of references to that not working, and (I believe that) it's no longer supported. Best to switch to the new flash slideshow - see thread at http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=73247.

You are using a keyword for the source, switch to a gallery and it should
work. The old show doesn't seem to work any more using keywords.
But the new one does.

Thanks for the info gents,

It is a bit frustrating as it took a while to sort out the slideshow when I signed up. I am not very good with code.:scratch

Does this mean that I can only have photos from one gallery in the slide show? Does it then follow that if I want photos from different galleries I have to make a specific slide show gallery?

Thanks again for your help.

If you want to use a keyword to drive your slideshow, you'll need to switch to the new slideshow. Based on the information that Allen provided, you can continue to use the old slideshow if you want to point to a gallery; he indicated that the keyword option there is no longer working. You certainly could create a gallery for your slideshow, but I'd recommend moving to the new show if you can.

I know that keyword feeds can be used with the new slideshow because I use a keyword to feed my homepage slideshow.

Hello again,

I've been away so haven't been able to look at this slide show stuff until now.
I looked at the link to the code and another link about instlalling it, but being computer illiterate I could do with some help:D

It says to copy the code and put in in you bio box - I went to the customize page, but can't see a bio box to put it in? :scratch

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks

I see your bio stuff in the page source, "I am a Sale (Vic..." and on your
page the old show, not running though because you're using a keyword
source. Change the source to an old gallery and it will run.

To switch to the new flash show you'll have to edit your bio in the CP.

In your Control Panel under the settings tab you will see "bio: change".
You'll have to edit it there until you disable your old show code.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for replying. I went to the Shizam slideshow page and copyied this code, but don't know where to insert it?

Grateful for any help.

Hi Allen,

I appreciate your patience, however, I'm still having trouble. I cut and paste the code into my bio box and it still isn't working.

I don't know what his means:
This code on the wiki is busted for the embeded line.
Busted part
...&clickUrl=[http://www#46;smugmug#46;com]"

so I am not sure if it is in the original code.

As for this : "Busted part", all I know about 'busted' is that my slide show is busted:rofl

I thank you for your help.:D

I just placed a copy of the code in your bio using WebDev and the show runs.
Paste what I posted in your bio. Oops, it has to be between html tags, I'll
edit my post. Be ready in less then a minute.

So I know it runs. Try the bio version below, paste it in your bio instead of
the other.

<html>
<script>
var ssConfig = {
AlbumID: '4420775',
newWindow: 'false',
transparent: 'true',
splash: 'http://www.smugmug.com/img/ria/ShizamSlides/smugmug_black.png',
showLogo: 'false',
clickUrl: 'http://christulk.smugmug.com/gallery/4420775',
showThumbs: 'true',
showButtons: 'true',
crossFadeSpeed: '350'
};

SM.flash.insertSlideshow(600, 600, ssConfig, 'transparent');
</script>

Change this line to add your own splash photo then it will show while
the show starts. btw, it started in about 5 sec here in Firefox.

splash: 'http://www.smugmug.com/img/ria/ShizamSlides/smugmug_black.png',

add your photo number in this.

splash: 'http://rich56k.smugmug.com/photos/xxxxxxxxxx_xxxxx-M.jpg',

Call me weird but the old SS used to load instantly for me & now this 'state of the art' flash SS takes longer - :cry - forces us to watch that little 'progress- slider' while it takes time to load - :scratch - and the transitions between pics are clunkier - ?! :rolleyes

Hi (again) Allen,

I must be missing something, as I don't understand how it is possible for the code to work when you put it in the bio box, but fails to work when I do:scratch

Just make sure I'm doing the right thing, this is what I'm doing:

1. Press the control panel button

2. In the SETTINGS tab, go to the bio: change and press that

3. Cut and paste the code you posted and put it into the bio box

4. press the 'update bio' button

5. Go to my home page and cross my fingers.....nothing.

Is it possible for you to leave the code you inserted in my bio box, there, so that it will work?

Thanks again for your help.

Any ides how I can get my slide show back?
Maybe the old show is stopping it.
Remove this from your footer. Make a backup copy in text file first.

<script type="text/javascript">
/* required slideshow variables */
slideshowContainerId = "bioBox";
slideshowUrl = "http://christulk.smugmug.com/keyword/show";

/* optional slideshow variables */
/* see properties section */
slideControls = true;
slideHeight="400";
slideWidth="640";

if (YD.hasClass(document.body,'homepage') && !YD.hasClass(document.body,'galleries'))
loadSlideshow ();
</script>

Things to check. External links are on for source gallery and the new show code is between
html tags.

Chris -
You have your bio set not to display with this CSS:
#userBio { display: none; }
Change that (plus add to center the slideshow) to #userBio {
display: block;
text-align: center;
}

Hi Denise,

Thank you very much, A SLIDE SHOW NOW APPEARS!!:clap

One small problem, there was another photo that was showing, it must have been the bio photo. I tried to get rid of it by pressing the 'hide' button, and the slide show dissapeared:scratch

I later found the button in the bio update page that says hide photo, but the slidshow was already gone and won't come back:cry

It sounds like you hid your bio. Go to your control panel, click the homepage tab, and select show on your bio.

And make sure that your CSS includes this to hide your bio photo:
#bioBox .photo {
display: none;
}

Hi Denise,

Thanks for your help. I went to the homepage tab, and pressed the 'show'.

The slide show now appears, but so does the smugmug photo (bio photo???) box.

If I can get rid of that, I think it will be ok.

Sorry for being so difficult and time consuming, but I do appreciate your persistence.

Hi Denise,

Thanks for your help. I went to the homepage tab, and there is a box (for the photo) that is empty. There is no 'show' button that I can see. Strangley enough, the slideshow works on that page but not on my 'normal homepage':scratch:scratch

Sorry for being so difficult and time comsuming, but I do appreciate your persistance.
Where exactly is " works on that page"?

Where exactly is " works on that page"?

Sorry to be so broad - I meant the customization page, however, it is not needed anymore, AS IT NOW WORKS:barb

Thank you (and Denise) SO much for your help.

I noticed a thread previously that got rid of the smugmug logo prior to commencement of the slide show, so I'll head to that thread and tidy up my homepage slightly.

Thanks again, greatly appreciated:D
