Here's a picture of Vickie, my 8 year old Lab which I have never posted on dgrin before! It was taken late last summer. I have a lot of good stuff from that period which I really never sorted out.

She is my avitar. The dirty tennis ball and the drool has special meaning for me, so I don't know what would make me change it.

Vickie is camera shy, so it's actually hard to get good shots of her. Still, I've posted quite a few. But she'll rarely pose as nicely as this.

Hi Ya Vickie!
Let me tell you, wet fur from swimming in the ocean (as here) is no problem at all. Now we are into goose hunting season. Usually the geese just run, swim, or fly away, so they are no fun at all. But this time of year they get very protetective of their territory. So they stand their ground and Vickie thinks that's a complete blast. Now what does an experienced goose hunting dog do to get ready for this fun? Well, I'll give you a hint: she doesn't want to smell too much like a dog, more like a goose or something a goose might be used to.

Bring back fur wet with salt water.

She's a beauty John! Reminds me of my old lab, Magnet (that was one of his
nicknames).

What happened to your dog? Do you have any pictures?my little friend Toby.. I had to be really really brave and strong for him. He had cancer and I helped him pass in 1999.. you'd think I'd be over it by now..he was only 7. Anyone that has ever loved and lost a doggie understands.:cry this is a terrible photo of him but the only one I can bear to look at..

Lynn, yeah, I understand. It's a big problem with pets and parents. It's reasonable to hope our children will outlive us.

Shooting black dogs is about as hard as you can get. It's just hard to get the exposure correct. Compositionally I think a different background and angle would have been more powerful, but what the heck, you gotta get the shot when you can get it, and you got it the best that you could!
