Very nice. The transition from the rock and dirt to the snow capped mountains and beautiful blue sky is stunning.:thumb

I would think about cropping some of the bottom though. It may help enhance the effect.

Thanks, that was my intention. To go from dirt to rock to Mtns.

This is very very nice. As long as you are cropping, why not try to get the pile of rocks a little off center to increase the drama?

Good luck on the climb. I've done it three times over the years. Now, that I think about it, I will need to go again...Digital!

I can only say I wish I was there. In fact I took 190 to Olancha (out of DeathValley) about two weeks ago and got to see the mountains just as the sun went over the top. Your side trip was well worthwhile. I tried a couple of crops as suggested in the other posts in PS (just to see how it would look)and there really are several other interesting ways to interpret this scene. I don't have it in me to redo someone else's image, although I think it is a great learning tool when I see it done. Anyway, I like the shot - and it can look great in several other iterations as well.

Gary - rambling after midnight!

between the desert landscape and the snowy mountains. Reminds me of last May when we drove from LA to Palm Springs. It was 106F on the highway, and what seemed like only a short distance away, were snow-capped mountains! Unfortunately there were wildfires on the go in the area and we didn't have the clarity in the scenery that you have in this one.

Good work!
