I've read before that you can use a 4GB card in a 1D (classic/original) but that you can only get the camera to use or see 3GB. Can a 1D owner clarify this and post instructions on how to do it? The camera wants to format the card itself and uses FAT16 which only gives me 2GB. if I format outside the camera using FAT32 then the camera won't read the card. It's a SanDisk Ultra II 4GB if that helps.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I found one person who claims success formatting a 4Gig card using 64K clusters on a computer. You cannot format the card on the camera or you will get only 2 Gigs worth of storage.

If you're not intimate with FDisk, I don't recommend you attempt the process. At any rate you may be risking the integrity of the card so proceed at your own risk.

Thanks for the note, I had a feeling it would come down to some sort of partition jujitsu. I'll probably just see if someone wants to swap two 2 gig cards for my 4 gig.
