Any chance a persistent shopping cart is in development? My trial wedding customers are complaining that the cart disappears when they leave the site. Obviously getting through 400+ wedding photos is a little time consuming and may take a couple of days. As well this seems to be a hitch in my business plan regarding internet delivery and fulfillment.

I selected photos into the cart yesterday (not hundreds) but a dozen or so... and today I wanted to continue... but the cart is now empty. Now what? Start over again? Why does the cart looses it's content? I have not reset my cache or anything else.
HELP!!!

HELP!!!I did a short test with IE and Mozilla. If you close the browser completely (all tabs, windows) the cart will be gone. :dunno
SM is not working with cookies at this point, so nothing is cached on your hard drive.
Maybe it should be written somewhere that the cart will be gone after closing the browser, that could prevent such a time waste on customer side, because from Amazon or other companies I'm used to that they'll save such things.
So what about implementing a persistent cart? I mean photo ordering can be a long and time consuming job if you consider the possebility with SM to order pictures from people all over the world! :wink

Mozilla - I use. The browser was never closed, but gone to another Sm site... Cart still disapeared.

- adding photos to cart
- going to different SM-site
- surfing to google (same window), search for smugmug and click on smugmug.com
- open new window, go to web.de, close old window, search for smugmug in web.de and click on it
Cart survived all of this. :dunno Just closing all windows is a bad idea.
To be sure leave your cart open and open a new window/tab to continue browsing. That should help.

Yes, we've talked about this internally. Our current cart is session-based, meaning you do lose it if you close the browser. We'd like to have a persistent cart and it's on our list of things to improve.
Thanks,

While I appreciate that this is on the action list I would assume that the SM management realizes that this is impacting their revenue stream as well since they are losing print business to conventional ordering methods. Don't take this wrong but why on a manual order would any photographer order prints through SM when they can transmit directly to the printer or for that matter take the files to (heaven forbid) Costco.
What I'm trying to get across here is rapid deployment of features to the Pro community means more captured revenue for SM.
Persistence is a virtue....
