View Full Version : greh headed flying fox
this is a grey headed flying fox flying out to feed at night-australias largest bat ,we have thousands in melbourne -they are hard to shoot, this is a crop,i am still working on my technique.focussing is a real issue as they move quickly and its dark-i want to get one closer and wider with more light but there is a fair amount of luck involved...it is a little underexposed but I dont mind as it looks more like a drewaing than a photographhttp://bluetongue.smugmug.com/photos/17872125-M.jpg

I just did a google search on "grey headed flying fox".
A wingspan of one meter???
Whoa . . . bigger than I would have guessed.
:huh
yes they are large and fly up to 50kms each night in search of food, mainly nectar.
here is another one-note the nice red collar of fur
