My wife was off to the Theatre last night to see "Acorn Antiques" which was apparently excellent. So me and my daughters booked a night flight on The Eye and had a bit of wander round. They get a little impatient with me but despite thier protests I still managed to get a few shots in :D.
I was hoping to get some pictures of the Trafalger Lions at twighlight, but there was an anti-nuke demo going on so it was all fenced off....

Then down to the eye, to pick up the tickets and get in the queue for a 7:30 flight

I had a couple of ideas that I was hoping try during the flight but security wouldn't allow me to take my tripod on with me. I tried handholding and using the benches and stuff but they all came out pretty awful. Had trouble getting my tripod back too...make sure they attach a cloakroom ticket if you go.
We headed back to Covent Garden for some hot chocolate but stopped back in Trafalger square. The demo had now finished but it was now too dark!

Nice pitures - all these London photographs are making me homesick. My little daughter is heading over in a couple of months, but I can't make it. Poo!
Couple of questions though:
Nuke demo? Bit late for that surely? Maybe they were protesting against North Korea. (I don't think so).
What is it with security goons and tripods?

quite beautiful shots Gubbs. The one of "the eye" is particularly fantastic. BTW, the demo was probably an anti-war protest as yesterday marked the 2nd anniversary of Bush's invasion of Iraq.

Thanks David,
TBH I'm not sure what demo it was, one of my daughters saw "nuke" on a board and asked me what it meant.... I was staging my own personal FREEDOM FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS demo at the time so did't pay them much attention :wxwax

He did a shot of the Lion looking down at Big Ben which I've been intending to do for some time. I'll keep trying until I get the right light and no demos!

Well you'll just have to come back again in the Autumn!!
A brick lane ruby afterwards, what d' ya reckon??
Mate the next place on my list is india itself....the thought of 3 months travelling on a romantic old wooden train through india with explosive diarrhea is drawing me in like the light of a dying star in the far reaches of the nights sky.

Fab! I love the wheel shot!
Why not try a tiny tripod like one of these (http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?vcat=REI_SEARCH&stat=7889&langId=-1&storeId=8000&textQuery=tripod)?
The advantage is that you could carry it in your pocket.
