Hi Lynn

I'm teaching here at a boarding school. I'm headed back home (USA) in July. I haven't been that far outside of Shanghai but I hope to hit Beijing and the Great Wall before I leave.

Here's a small tour of Shanghai...

We happened upon this girl about to get on her bicycle.

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2940228-S.jpg

Later we saw some interesting food for sale...

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2940248-S.jpg

Time to get on the subway and head into downtown...

These cops are always helpful...

People often take their kids to work with them.

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2940225-S.jpg

There'a a lot of construction going on here, constantly.

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2940242-S.jpg

This couple takes a leisurely stroll.

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2940224-S.jpg

Unfortunately, some of the city must make way for the new construction.

http://nomadstudios.smugmug.com/photos/2929208-S.jpg

What better way to end than with a sunset?

I hope you enjoyed the mini-tour!!

That is a fantastic shot, damonff. can you post larger ones?

What's the "ff" in your username signify?

damonff
Mar-23-2004, 06:57 PM
Hi Fish. Thanks for the kind words. I'll post larger from now on. The ff stands for the first initials of my middle and last names. Here's the basket weaver large until I post more later.

BTW the basket guy was very cool and I have more shots of him in the process of making his basket but this one is the best because he looked at me - I got lucky.

I hope that this interest in China will spill over to someone who can publish an eye-opening book about China! I still have a few more months to beef up the portfolio.

I went for a walk yesterday and saw this. I've been meaning to photograph these people and I finally have. They wheel around grass on HUGE carts and I still need to find out the purpose. Until then, help me figure it out.

so many fantastic shots in this thread.... to many to single out any... I like the way you capture ordinary people going about their business, each has its own stary to be told. Ive not been to Shanghai, but through your photos feel a sence of 'experience'. I love Asia and have had the pleasure of travelling through South East Asia, beautiful people, beautiful place.
