(I'm not big in naming my images, sorry.)

First post to the whipping post. This is a very different picture for me, but a gallery here has a call for submission for a show titled "Constructed reality"

The tagline is "Constructed, arranged, manipulated, staged or surreal images."

So here is a picture I plan on submitting, but wanted to have a beating at the whipping post first.

Well to be honest my first impression is that I'm not compelled to feel much about the photo I think simply because I'm just not sure what I'm looking at. Can you give us a little background about the image and how it fits into the "Constructed reality"The tagline is "Constructed, arranged, manipulated, staged or surreal images." theme?

Tagline or purpose aside, I think it's an intersting photo. I like the lines/cracks and the reflections are pretty cool, especially their hint of color.

However, I must agree that I don't see how it fits your theme. I suppose it could be a little surreal. Or maybe you were going toward the construction part of the theme. If that's the case, I think the cracks show aging, not something that is a new construction.

Does the tagline imply your method of taking the shot? Are you supposed to construct something? manipulate something? arrange something? or stage something? in order to get your photo for this show.

As Fresno said, can you give us a little background on how you came up with this shot for "Constructed Reality?"

I think (but partially want to know if other people think so) that it fits into "manipulated" and "surreal". (although manipulated in how i processed it, so maybe not)

The image is of a wall next to where I work, and the build in is reflecting onto the wall.

I think it's a fine abstract. I like the interplay between the blurry blocks of reflected color and the sharp brown cracks. To my mind it fits the theme. It doesn't look like something you'd likely come across in the real world, yet it's obviously also a photo of something. That ambiguity is compelling.

Only nit: fix the white line down the left side.

Conceptually, its excellent. For me I see the deep thrombotic veins, with the cracking skin level veins. But, again that's conceptional. I am only distracted by the heavy vertical line left, and maybe the one right, which gives it the look of panels. But maybe thats exactly right.

White line was caused by me cropping in a hurry at work, will fix it before I print it.

Thanks for the great comments.

now it makes sense :) I enjoyed the discovery part more than the abstract part of it :)
The cracks are nice overall it doesn't quite get through to me though.

Thanks !
