Remove white lines/boxes

I am trying to remove the white boxes, but cannot. I thought I found an explanation, but when I investigated, it made no sense to me. Then I tried to make my own theme--way too complicated for me!

Mean these on your homepage? Assuming you're referring to the white lines.
