you guys are kind thank you :clap here is the lead up shot you know he was in trouble:scratch hum 3.5 at 1250 and 200mm if i had dropped one and pulled back to 170 ??? :dunno

honestly, I don't think you blew it at all. I like it alot, but then again, I'm pretty non traditional and a sucker for diagonal lines in shots. It's an out of the norm bird shot, i'd hang it on my wall.

Almost shots are good. That means you are so close you can taste it :wink

What we learn from almost shots is invaluable, IMO. I really don't learn much from good shots. I might have been lucky, I might have set it up perfectly, it doesn't really matter. How many of us go back and analyze our good shots? I know I sure don't do it often enough. Most of us scrutinize our almosts, or bad shots to find out what we need to do differently next time, to get the results we were after.

I agree with most here, that this isn't a bad shot at all :thumb I like the diagonal perspective. That it's not exactly what you wanted will likely cause you to think about how you're going to approach this shot next time. IMO, this is what photography is all about. Learning from your mistakes and then applying that knowledge.

Sorry about the preaching....lol But I just wanted to let you know that we all have/do hit these bumps in the road. If you look at them as opportunities to improve, rather than kicking yourself in the rear, you'll have loads more fun shooting :):

There has been so much super stuff posted here lately.

Well, I just understand.

If I thought I could go out and rectify my mistakes, but I can't right now. I almost blame myself for not having a rookery. Or whatever. Why did I move to the Charleston area. Why did I buy cameras instead of fixing my car so I could get to something.

It has been raining for two days, guess I did that, too. If it clears up, I will be at the airport picking up my husband.

And this post might go into space, too.

Ginger you are a photographer and In the my months here you have posted some great shots and thanks for the encouraging words steve harry have helped me get over the idea that all shots are keepers and go shoot again .Doc you have to clean that finger :scratch I have looked at this shot for 3 months[no deleting it] so i will print and hang on the wall and there it will stay until I shoot something better Kirwin thanks for the comment and looking Jeff
