Most people own the Sto-Fen. I think the Gary Fong Light Sphere is great, but pricey.
Or you could check out these things I'm making: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=80764
I like them because they're flat for storage, and you can adjust the amount of light thrown forward.

Some waste more light than others. I think I read somewhere that with the Sto-Fen, you have to crank up the power to compensate for lost light.:dunno

You can create your own light modifiers (DIY). A couple that I can recommend are:

http://abetterbouncecard.com/

Joe Demb also makes an interesting device for sale (reasonable):

I own a FlipIt product and it works well and is very well made.

I needed a special solution for an upcoming job. While shopping in a craft store with my wife I discover a material used for needlework that had promise.

If you like DIY projects you may find this flash modifier interesting. I like most of the ones on the market, each has it's own character.

My favorite commercial modifier is:

I use Stofen most of time (as I have already pay for it) but found the homemade model is much better. I will not buy any more diffuser.
Follow the website mentioned before. You can save a lot of money.

If you consider Gary Fong products then check out these links:
Gary Fong WhaleTail flash diffuser review (http://photo.greenlightstreet.com/www/index.php?/publisher/articleview/frmArticleID/4/)
Gary Fong WhaleTail flash diffuser test (http://photo.greenlightstreet.com/www/index.php?/publisher/articleview/frmArticleID/5/)

Fong's diffusers are expensive but work pretty good.

I've been using the Lumiquest 80/20 with good results. It is the most flexible one that I have found seeing that you can add different reflective inserts or a diffusion panel.

i agree, it is a good one. the only issue is that you have to carry all that stuff (insert, diffusers...). but the results are good.
