By Easter I will be displaying some of my images in the cafe / shop run by my partner's family, and hopefully selling a few :wink. The surounding area has been the driving force behind my photography.

I have a short list of images that I am considering for display. This scene caught my attention as we were driving along in the area, the perfectly still reflection in the loch at first.. then the lush vegetation that reminded me of prehistoric ferns depicted on TV programs. The residence of Lady Bourneville is apparently nearby.. I guess she likes the scenery too :dunno

Anyway, I'm not here asking if anyone would actually buy this print (one person's meat is another's poison) but I do expect a traditional Smugmug whipping to thrash out the best from the image.

Many thanks in advance!

Nice job on the "image find".

I don't think the foreground shrubs are doing much for you here. They are distracting, so I would suggest you consider a pano crop, of course you sacrifice your thirds but ....

I think you also want to explore some post-processing to add visual interest on this one since you have a fairly routine landscape.

Congrats on the display option!

I like the image. Nice eye.
I'd personally crop out the bottom a bit like quark said.

Just a weeee bit much on the shadow highlight tool.

I don't think this will come across in print the way you'd like it to. It will look a bit washed out and lacking depth.

Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Quark, can you elaborate on specific PP you had in mind? Any ideas most welcome.

Jon, I'll dial the shadow/highlight down a bit :D

If it was me, which it isn't, I'd consider pushing things a bit further. More contrast, more saturation, especially more red/magenta in the sky. It's a nice view, and an interesting unusual mood, but it doesn't reach and grab me the way I think it might with a bit more pop. Though of course you don't want o push it so far that you lose the sober tranquil mood.

Thanks Gary, comments taken on board.

I've started a new thread in the 'Finishing School' to keep the ball rolling...
