Sort of looks like someone is building Homer Simpson, possibly for some claymation, or something. I'm just not sure what I am looking at. Is it Playdo? or Fimo clay? The concept of hands working clay is great, though a potters wheel, and plenty of wet slip, I think would portray it much nicer. The depth of field is interesting, the hands more or less in focus, and the clay at the same depth (or possibly even nearer) not.

It seems a strange choice of crop, focus point and tonality all out of synch with the content

I think the idea is great.
I also think if you switched to focal point to Homer instead. The image would have allot more impact.

I think that focusing on the hands, rather than the product is an interesting choice. However, the extreme blur of the product makes it look too artsy. I think I'd like it better if you found a more subtle way to draw attention to the hands and away from what they are shaping.

I agree about what your are saying, I also think Homer is too strong of a character if the hands are met to be the main subject! --JY
