--My site (http://leighnoel.smugmug.com) looks different in different browsers.
Not sure how to do screen shots so I'll just describe.
*In IE, it looks like I want it to (except the slideshow isn't centered, which is the case in all browsers...will take help on that one too).
*In FF, the navbar shows up on left side of screen and my bio pic, 'heather white's home' and 'map this' show up (I put code in to make those disappear and they do on other browsers); (the slideshow is more centered here due to the bio pic showing up); also a list of all my galleries shows up, even though I am not logged in.
*In Safari, it looks similar to IE but 'sharegroups' shows up.
--In all those browsers I have a partial white frame that I would maybe consider keeping if I could get the slideshow centered. If I kept it, i would probably like it completed (only top and left sides show up now). Help please! I've spent an hour searching the forum for answers and I can't find what I need. Thanks.

(I posted in another forum, but I'll ask here too...can I make photos appear in random order in slideshow? I've seen different reports. I guess in the old hack it was possible, but not with shizam...is that correct? What is old hack, then? I would like random order. Or does old hack suck compared to shizam :D)

Ah, the curse of the missing '. Will mess up all the
CSS below.
#my_banner {
width: 1000px;
height: 120px;
margin: 0 auto;
background: url(http://leighnoel.smugmug.com/photos/243515518-O.jpg) no-repeat;
_background: none;
_filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaIma geLoader(enabled=true,sizingmethod=image,src='http ://leighnoel.smugmug.com/photos/181520664-O.jpg');
}
Add the !important to center show.
#userBio {
text-align: center !important;
}

Thank you. Not sure what the ' was supposed to do. Added it and everything looked the same in all 3 browsers. Slideshow is centered now (!) but still have the other problems--bio pic shows up in FF, the half-a-square lines show up in all the browsers, 'sharegroups' shows up in safari and the navbar is still left-oriented in FF. I also would like to tighten up the slideshow to the navbar. I've looked at padding options but not working.

You did not add the ' at the end.

Got your email at the help desk. We do all this advanced customizing here on Dgrin, and Allen's got you off to a great start... please hang in there.
I have customized my site (leighnoel.smugmug.com) but am having some problems with it looking different in each browser.
In IE it is good. Now in Safari it is ok too ('sharegroups' was appearing above the slideshow but somehow that has changed;
This is the result of visiting a sharegroup. It's a cookie and it will go away. But you can block it if you really want to and it will never show. Say the word.
actually I just discovered that it does show up if you have viewed a sharegroup recently; I guess I am ok with that as long as a first time visitor to the site doesn't see that right off the bat; is there a way to have this appear below slideshow?).
Not without a bit of CSS positioning that would be tricky.
I'm having all the problems in FF. First, my navbar is left-oriented, instead of centered like it is in IE and Saf and it has bullets.
Allen is the navbar expert :) And we also have a dedicated, sticky, navbar help thread :thumb
It shows the words "heather white's home" and map this;
it shows the gallery categories on the homepage; and it shows the date and time that galleries were updated (this is the case with FF only) (http://leighnoel.smugmug.com/share/qtChY80VmXyQM). My bio photo also appears in FF, right next to the slideshow.
Can I tighten up the slideshow to the nav bar?
Is it possible to remove the theme-specific white lines around the slideshow?
With stretchy on, I still do not have very large previews on my widescreen monitor (1440x900); there seems to be a lot of extra space around the picture, even in portrait-oriented photos; on my non-widescreen monitor (1280x 1024) they are much bigger, although there still seems to be some extra space around photo.
I know that's a lot; that's all I have so far :) I will reiterate my questions below this just to make it easier to glance and answer each question.
--can I move 'recently visited sharegroups' to below the slideshow?
--center navbar and remove bullets and underlining of links (FF)
--remove 'heather white's home' and 'map this' from FF
--hide 'gallery categories' from homepage in FF
--hide date and time that galleries were updated (FF)
--remove bio photo (FF)
--tighten up slideshow to nav bar (all browsers)
--remove white theme-specific lines that appear around slideshow
--how do I improve the size of previews in stretchy mode
Thank you so much!

--tighten up slideshow to nav bar (all browsers) You are using all landscapes for your slideshow so changing the height to
400 will decrease the vertical height of your homepage. Change this in your bio.
createSWF(600,400, oParams, "transparent");
--center navbar and remove bullets and underlining of links (FF)
--remove 'heather white's home' and 'map this' from FF
--hide 'gallery categories' from homepage in FF
--hide date and time that galleries were updated (FF)
--remove bio photo (FF) Your CSS is not working because you have not added the ' in my previous
posts above. See red ' behind you banner photo link.
#my_banner {
width: 1000px;
height: 120px;
margin: 0 auto;
background: url(http://leighnoel.smugmug.com/photos/243515518-O.jpg) no-repeat;
_background: none;
_filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaIma geLoader(enable d=true,sizingmethod=image,src='http://leighnoel.smugmug.com/photos/181520664-O.jpg');
}
--remove white theme-specific lines that appear around slideshow Add this to your CSS
#bioBox .boxTop,
#bioBox .boxBottom,
#bioBox {border:none !important;}
Miss anything? Holler back.

Andy and Al--
thanks so much! Al, I had inserted the missing ' before, then I said it didn't make a difference...well I just now realized I had inserted it at the wrong spot! Andy thanks for reposting my questions. I reposted them too before I realized you had already done; thanks for deleting that post.
I would like to move the 'recent sharegroups viewed' below the slideshow; Al is that possible?
Thought of something else too. How do I center my statcounter and can it be positioned below footer?
Thanks again. You are great.

See it adding the red in your footer does it.
<!-- Start of StatCounter Code -->
<div align="center">
<script type="text/javascript">
var sc_proje...
...919";
</script>
</div>
The link you posted to a sharegroup above doesn't work. I need to see it on
the page to find a way to move it and would have to visit it for it to show
on the homepage.
Can you post a good link or PM me a link if you don't want it public?

The centering did not work. Thanks though. Not sure why it would not be centered...I use it on other sites and it is automatically centered...
Here's link to a sharegroup.

I can move the sharegroup down but the other elements would need
positioning with and without the sharegroup. Very tricky.
You can hide it from your page with CSS if you wish.
.homepage #shareGroups {display: none;}
