These are not good shots, as I didn't realise how difficult it would be to take decent pics of them - their heads are absolutely miniscule compared to the rest of the body and they are always bobbing around. What was absolutely fantastic was to see the mating displays and the actual mating of these birds on 23 Dec (having never seen it before). Unfortunately, this was too far away to take pics of. But anyway, here some walking feather dusters:

Male (he was eating the grass seeds, before I snapped this):

Female (wrong time of day):

Another female (these were recovered from a little accident (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=80300) on my part):

Very cool birds! Nice shooting BigAl, and glad you got most of your pics back from that little accident! :thumb I have tried shooting an ostrich at the zoo before, and it was not easy to get the shots I wanted.

Nice images in tough light. Like Harry said, we in the states can basically only see these birds in zoos or specially designed wildlife parks.

Thanks for comments all! Much appreciated!

Gus: :rofl I wouldn't want to try that with an ostrich - the darn thing would kick you to death :D
