I went to get a D-70 at Tri-State Camera online, and they have a 512MB CF card under "REQUIRED ACCESSORIES." Never mind that I add a 1GB card, the 512 pops up! Is this legal to REQUIRE the card?

I don't know of it's legal but could be the terms of sale. I'd look someplace else.
Especially since the 512mb is probably next to useless for you.

One of my co-workers wanted to buy a 20d and found a great price. If you
bought the body at the great price and much higher priced kit lens, you'd go
to the top of the ship list. Body only? Four to eight weeks. How uncool is
that?
