photoshop cs3-change on skin tone

in a photo how do I just change the skin tone of a face and nothing else..thanks janis

Depending upon the image, create a separate layer (copy the background) and do your adjustments focusing only on the face. Ignore what it does to anything else - blot it out of your mind.

When you are done, add a layer mask to the tweaked copy layer, fill with black, and then start erasing the mask from around the face only.
