D300 @ Wide World Of Sports

I took this at the Disney Holiday Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports over the Christmas holidays. Wow, what a nice place to photograph sports!

Is this cropped or is this what the 85mm & D300 will give you from the side lines. I have a D300 on order, and next lens purchase will be the 85 1.8.

Also, did you have to do any clean-up editing, like noise etc? From what I have read, the D300 is pretty clean even at 1600. Why did you choose ISO of 1600 and 1/800? Do you need 1/800 speed to shoot these guys. I just shot 6 HS games at 1/320 ( and 1600 on my D70s) & no blur, just lots of noise!

Steve, there is a little cropping but not much. As far a post processing I ran it thru Lightroom and Noise Ninja but it really didn't need much. It was great at 1600. I am just used to shooting in a cave for HS Basketball and used 800 because I could to stop all the action. I was actually trying out several different settings. I went back the next day and use my 70-200 on f2.8.
