Excellent shot Tom! :thumb Great detail in the Osprey. We all need longer glass. I very rarely get a flight shot that I don't have to crop. In your shot the sky is a tad noisey. What i usually do is to select the sky with the wand tool and then just apply noise reduction to the sky. You can go pretty heavy with the NR because there are no details to be lost. If you don't have a nose reduction program you can just apply blur to the sky area.

Ok, I tried Noise Ninja, but still wasn't happy with the noise. So, I tried the blur like you said, but still not satisfied. Next, selected the sky with the magic wand and sampled the color with the ink blotter. Next, I just painted the whole sky the same color. Does it look fake?

Hey Ian,

I have three NR programs, Noise Ninja, Neat Image, and ASF's Digital Gem. When I have noise in the background area or just in the shadow areas where I'm not concerned with the loss of details I use Digital Gem. I use that because my versions of the other two programs are stand-alone versions and not plug-ins. I'll just select the sky, for example, and apply Digital Gem to it within PSCS. If I have a shot where I need more precise NR I usually go with Noise Ninja.

That's much better Tom and it doesn't look fake. Good work. :thumb
