Whats kit do you need?

Ok I guess I should of asked this a few weeks ago but as I have a birthday in a week or so times I shall ask now. For most people their standard equipment is a camera, 2+ lense, a flash, a bag\case\hoddall, tri\mono-pod, spare battery, spare memory card, cloth for wiping the lense.

So whats the other extra's that you really should have, do you need a lense hood? do you require anyother particular cleaning bits (I'm not talking computer\software bit) any suggestions :scratch

You could add a sensor cleaning kit (not expensive) and a book for your camera (the latter makes a huge difference for a noob like me;) Lens hoods are really good for shooting in situtations where light might reflect off the lens. They are generally not very expensive though.

Don't forget about software that would help you to organize, process, edit and enhance all those files you created depending on your needs and workflow.

Ok my first question should be whats a Polarizing filter or more to the point what does it do?? I am going to guess and say it helps when taking pictures in bright sunlight??

Sensor cleaning kit, thats means putting my large bumbling digits near the inside of my camera, will have to look into this one.

As mentioned I have the software just need the ability to use it.
