U.S.S. Midway was the longest serving aircraft carrier for the US Navy. Recently decommissioned and at San Diego, it is open to the public and has aircrafts on it's flight deck.
1. F4 Phantom on deck, ready for take off with San Diego in the background.

5. Love the face of this one. Looks like a dead clown.

6. I think this is a port side light from an A4.

7. Ah, don't remember the model of this one either.

Some very interesting shots of the aircraft carrier museum. I took my son there about 2 years ago and got some similar stuff.

Doesn't look like you had too many people to deal with- was it dead or did you clone them out?

Hey thanks, I think it reminds me of a basking shark or something like that.

Hi, it wasn't too crowded but I just waited for people to leave my composition and took the shots. Most shots, after I composed, I had to wait for the people to move out of my shots.

Great stuff! :thumb I like the different angles used, not you run of the mill shots.

3 and 7 look like an A-7 Corsair, but I could be mistaken.

The A4 is an awesome aircraft and this is a cool shot.

Might be worth a trip to SD just to see the Midway. Thanks for sharing these
shots.

If you can, SD is a nice place to visit and shoot, there is the San Diego Zoo and a Wild Animal Park if you like animals, USS Midway for ships and such, an old town area, and Balboa Park with nice buildings and museums.

You bet. I lived on Coronado for 3 months in 1995 during the America's
Cup. Outstanding city. I've been back too as the company I work for now
has an office there :thumb

They're all great but my favorite is the first one. I love the way the paint just leads you right to that great scene of the city and the jet.

I miss SD :( I was stationed there about 20 years ago.

those are great shots and yes the two unknowns are A7's.

Similar to A6's you can tell the diff as the A6's have 2 intakes and the A7's have 1 biiiig mouth.

The aircraft you cant remember are an A7 Corsair and a Chance Vought F8 Crusader. You can tell the difference because the F8 has a wing that will lift from the fuselage.

Nice pics for the Midway BTW

The Midway Museum is awesome but, is not the easiest place to photograph. You did a fine job in isolating portions of aircraft.

Sorry to dredge this one up again, but those are both the F8. The A7 has a different shaped (wider, about the width of the fuselage) intake as well as a more rounded nose.

Awesome set BTW, we will be in SD for 12 days at the end of August and I cannot wait to get out there again.

Very nice. I was just there with my kids. I haven't had a chance to upload the photos yet. Hope some of mine are worthy. ;)

These are all so great, I was starting to make a list of my favorites in my head, except they were all favorites as I kept scrolling. I love the angles, depth of field, and colors you got. They all really pop.

We have a battleship not to far from where I live. I was there on business with my wife a couple of months ago, but didn't get to shoot the ship. Your shots have me wanting to go back and photograph it.

Great shots...I like your perspective.
