Registering you business name in NYC

I know there are a bunch of NYC photogs here so i'll ask. Let's say I make about $200-$400 a year in prints. I have a website set up to sell those prints. Do I have to register the business name with NYC? I am think I might have to at least set up a sole proprietorship.

Maybe, a call to 311 is in order.

as far as print sales are concerned I'm betting you're in the clear because with a smugmug account you're NOT selling prints, SM is.

In Oregon (which is very obviously not NYC!) where I live, as long as you use your own name as your business name, you don't need to register (or pay) for a business name. You might check to see if there is something similar in NYC.

Wait.. What if my web address is hyperfocalphotography.com, but I go by Ivan Garcia photographer. Does this mean I have to register?
