Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted for a while. I took some time off for Thanksgiving with family back east (sans camera) as well as the Mark III fix, some holiday chores, etc.

I have a small backup of photos to process so I thought I would start putting some up for comment.

I have accumulated a lot of nice shots of various duck and water birds in flight, most coming right at me. I equate capturing these guys using a 500mm, when they are in full flight, to trying to swat down a missile with a telephone pole (man I wish I was 20 years younger).

I will post my ongoing post processing from time to time using "Don't Forget to Duck-part XX"

Hope you enjoy..

I think you did a great job swatting those missles with your telephone pole, and your ducks are beautiful. I had never seen big glass until last summer, in a bird swamp in NY, I was creeping around with my 300, and 4x4 van pulled up, and I thought a roll of carpet was about to be dumped out the drivers side window. It was a Canon 600mm with camo cover, and the driver placed a speaker on the roof playing marsh wren songs. He didn't get the shot he was seeking, but I was green with envy. BTW, I didn't see the marsh wren either, but I have a feeling managing big glass is exceptionally challenging, and I think your ducks in flight are fantastic.

Excellent shots and beautiful clarity - #10 is the one I like the best - but why not straighten it? Surely the bird is leaning forward not upright?

Hi Tim, Thanks for viewing. He was looking at me, ducks are pretty smart birds and will give your position away faster than any bird on the pond. They are always yakking back and forth.

Great shots Chris! You aren't wrong about the ducks! They are little alarms just waiting to go off!

Hi Mike, I look at ducks as the watchdogs of the pond. Nothing gets past them and they have their own little "quacky code" to let every other bird know you are there too.
