Well, I've never done this before. Have people comment on my work, so here goes.

My 7yr old and I took a walk up at the Lula Lake Land Trust on Lookout mountain in northwest Georgia.

Here are the results...

Thanks for any comments on what you like and of course what you don't like.

I plan to be more active here and give my opinion of others photos, but it's late and I'm tired.

See ya'll in the morning. - Thanks

Is it OK to post more than one shot?

Well, I picked my 4 favorites from our hike in the woods.

OK, after reading the rules, I've removed 3 photos.

This is a shot of Lula Lake.

All comments are welcome.

But it doesn't grab my attention. I think it might benefit from a tighter crop. You did a decent job of getting the exposure, though the woods above the cliff are a bit bright. The image "feels" to me like it's sliding down to the right. Maybe not, but it just feels that way. The small twig in the foreground over the water is a distraction.

And IMHO it takes cojones grandes to have your first post in the WP! Welcome to SM. It's a fun place, and most everybody is real civil - if blunt.

Shot #5 http://edh.smugmug.com/gallery/3921017/1/227589588#227591905 has one minor flaw that I often get in my photos too.. the fill flash is a touch too bright for my liking. Other than that I like the shots.

It's an OK picture for a little hiking trip slide show or something like that, but as art it doesn't make me look again. And the more I look, the less I like.
Though I favor the lighting and color on the edge of the shadow in the water, the rest of the foreground is just too dark. And then as you move up into the picture, the most intensly lit part appears blown out. The most interesting part, the wall above the water, is too dark to reveal anything of interest. And the background of the trees in the distance where the eye is led--is not very enticing.
So I guess I'm leading myself to say that this is a below average outdoor shot at best. Perhaps the other shots were better?

Hi,

I think the odd branch is a bit distracting and I would crop off a bit of the right and bottom - but basically the image is dull, in both contrast and colour.

Quite easy to fix with standard actions, along these sort of lines. Although I think the reflections could be enhanced a little more and there are some lovely colours to bring out in the rocks.

My main problem is the top of the waterfall as it is a bit blown, but although one can tone it down, it is too big and grabs the eye!

Sorry we'll have to wait a week for the next installment!

I'm new at this forum and wanted to say thanks for all the comments. This photo was taken on a bright cloudless day, so balancing the highlight and shadows was difficult. I did some darkening of the background in photoshop, but perhaps I should have exposed for the backgroud and worked on the forground post process. Thanks again. See ya next week.
