Really nice, I love the distortion. However, it does look a bit maximal to me.

Hey that is really cool, lynn. I have been messing with filters, too. But not so creatively.

I love the one you did with all the colors. The black and white one bothers me with the white area, and I would like the colored one better anyway. What really makes it is the one table setting.

this is better than the colorized one! I like it a lot. since I'm still not 100% clear on this minimalism thing yet, would it be even more minimal without the dinner setting? (i.e. more boring :rofl ) I like it as is, though. really like the inversion, too!

I like Angelo's idea of getting rid of chairs but I would keep one at either end. I really like the use of bright color. It keeps the photo interesting without destroying its minimalist character.

hmmmm......I'm sitting here and I keep wondering about the scroll work on the back of the chair.....and the snow is filling it in and I wonder what a full frame shot of that would look like? think that may be interesting? this minimalism challenge is killing me!! :cry

I like your outside shot, too, Lynn, but what is the white stuff?

Is that today?????

Would you like a photo from here today? Can't gotta go to the airport.

Am taking camera stuff, but I sure don't feel inspired. It is just another beautiful warm day here.

Lynn wonderful shot IMO I would just blacken the backround. Not sure if its my monitor or not but I'd liek it more if it were totally black..

I like it both ways, but the new one is maybe more minimal? Although my grasp of minimal is, well, minimal. :uhoh

I like the framing on this one better, as it is not cropped as tight as the others with the light on the floor.

http://lynn.smugmug.com/photos/17406125-M.jpg

It feels more balanced to me. Whether you use the extra light fill or not, I would use this placement.

Nice shot:thumb .

Brad

P.S. I liked your B/W table shot. Kinda reminded me of something from Close Encounters with the bright light under the table. Any visits from ET?

Really great shot!:clap:clap :clapI like the light coming in, It pulls the viewer in to the shot by including them in the foreground, without the light comming in the window it feels to distant and cold,(no pun intended) I'd love to see the shadow line for the light crisper... Again, really great shot,:thumb I think this one's definitely a challenger!

hoping this message finds you well -Ian

Lynn, I much prefer the orignal composition and lighting, it's very nice indeed. I can't help but wonder what it would look like if that tree were a little more centered in the window - maybe a bad idea, but I do wonder.

Yeah, I like the first one I saw best, myself. I think we are getting a little hyper on this minimal thing. The way we are approaching it, the winner maybe should be one who posts just black or white with a title.

You know I researched this, and there is a great deal of "interpretation" of the meaning of minimal, in the examples I saw.

I got a book from the library on it, saw your post and haven't opened it. It will be art and sculpture anyway, but I was hoping to get an idea. I think yours was better than anything I could come up with. Even if I had everything else, you have that D snow which just sets off the white minimal look. But I did like the light.

The recent one just screams minimal, but I think it screams it only for the sake of the style, for the sake of the photograph, I like the light, and it is still minimal in my mind. And much more minimal than examples I have seen.
