It's good for the price, but kind of soft, especially at 300mm. That one you're bidding on is older. There's a newer version out, the APO DG (or something like that).

I'm planning on selling mine next year and getting a faster Canon with IS, either their 70 (or is it 75?) to 300, 70-200L, or 100-400.

I'll want to be using it for surf shots.

EDIT The seller says in the listing:
Please contact us so that we can confirm if your mount is available before bidding to avoid shipping delay or order cancellations.
Tell the seller what camera you've got and he'll let you know what mounts he's got available.

hey rajamaka!
the lens you are looking at is an old version of the non APO version of sigma's 70-300. You have a APO and non-APO version.
do try to get the APO version. this one is considerable better then the normal version. its a pretty decent lens, especially considering the price. it performs best at 70-200 but you can get reasonable good pictures at 300 mm.
visit this gallery (http://chris-en-hils.smugmug.com/gallery/3647214#208076186) for some shots taken with the sigma 70-300 4-5.6 APO Macro.
if you look on the second hand market your could get them for something as cheap as 150 euro or maybe even less. if you are looking for a good beginner lens that packs some punch for small bucks this is a good contender.
good luck! :thumb
