A delayed question. I just got a Canon 30D, charged the battery until it was full. Is that enough or am I supposed to charge the first time for several hours? I've already went out and been using the camera so I hope I haven't screwed up the battery. :dunno

You're fine. Keep taking photos, the Canon BP batteries are pretty amazing. Straight out of the box, I think my 30D battery lasted for 2 days before needing a charge. The old "full charge/discharge" routines for avoiding power memory are mostly a thing of the past. Just keep the electrons flowing through the battery and all is well.

Go worry about better things :D

Woo-hoo!! I was so excited when I took it out of the box and it had fully charged, that I'd forgotten about the "first charge rule". Thanks for the clarification, I can continue on :photo

I can go through my 30's battery shooting all day for three days long. So it is pretty good!
