........tis still a pretty bird. Thanks Raptorcaptor for identifying this red shouldered hawk for me. Oh, and thanks to the patient hawk who must have sat there for 10 minutes while I snuck around trying to get close enough for my P&S. :D

Nice shots.

I'm hoping to get out this weekend and captur a few images of a hawk that's been in the same spot all week on my way into town. With my luck he takes weekends off. :rofl

You took that pic with a P&S!? Even more impressive! Nice color saturation. I like the "look back" and tail details. :thumb

Yes, technically a P&S because it's a fixed lens. I've got a Fuji S6000, one of the so-called super zooms. I was all out on the 10X optical zoom plus digital. Manual says that's supposed to be the equivalent of 600mm. Anyway, yes he had his eye on me and therefore the 'lookback'. I can guarantee he saw each and every move I made. The late afternoon sun was also cooperating adding to the color. I was very lucky.
