I think that it is a touching photo, however I wish you could see the Mom's eyes. Then again, I'm pretty new here, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

I love this shot for many reasons, and responded to it in another thread. I wouldn't change the composition a bit. What I like about it is the look in the young mans eyes as he looks directly at his mothers smile. He loves that smile, and there is no doubt. I see love, admiration, and trust, from both mother and son.

I like the closed eyes of the mother, she is in a special place.

And to add. Red and blue are used together for a reason...on rescue/aid vehicles (emergency lights), in hard hitting ad campaigns, in gaming situations...whenever someone wants to grab your attention. And you used it extremely well in this photo.

I also like what I particularly get from the button patterns in the photo. I see the single button of the mother, strong and steadfast. And I see the four haphazard buttons of the young man, jovial, almost jester like with the collar, a sign of youth and many great things to come. I suppose I could go on, but you get the point.

I wish the boys facial features were just a bit more in focus, but this is just a nit, because the emotion of the photograph isn't lost from it.

Well, as noted above, hard to criticize. The only thing (and it's a nit) is the brightness of the boy's face. OTOH, it adds to his innocence; rather angelic.

I think this is almost a terrific shot but there are a couple of things that could be better.

1) a little bit more of the mother's face
2) the boy's cheek is the lightest part of the image and draws the eye.
3) the faces are dead center and there is lots of non-contibuting space to the right.
