View Full Version : Can my clients use my Smugmug site to send me files?
I am currently trying out the Smugmug demo trying to decide whether this site is right for me. There are 10 days remaining to figure it out.
I restore old photos for clients and I need a way for them to send me photos. Would it be possible for them to upload files to my site (power user)? If so, how would it be implemented? I would for them to be able to use the excellent upload tools that Smugmug provides. Otherwise I may have to have them send files by email or build a custom site.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

You can have them email their photos directly. Attach the jpgs to the email.
Only problem is email size limit, so might only can attach couple at a time.

I am trying to use the email system to upload a 116-kb jpeg. When I send the file, a new gallery named Email is created in my account, but the picture does not appear. What is the email size limit per attachment and per email?

I have had a little time to try to get the email upload system to work. Here is what I have found so far. If I send from Yahoo mail, the pictures and captions transfer. From Gmail the pictures transfer but not the captions unless the body text is changed to plain text. From Microsoft Entourage neither the pictures nor the captions transfer, regardless of the encoding method chosen (for Mac, for Windows, for both, etc.). Do you have any guidelines that might predict what email programs will work?

plain text, for sure:

I understand that text is needed for the caption. i am more concerned about the picture itself. Like I said, photos sent from Microsoft Entourage do not end up in the gallery. Do any mail readers work or does it have to be web-based email.
It seems that the email system is not robust enough to be useful for my situation. Does anyone have any suggestions other than direct email attachments that don't involve Smugmug?
