This is a question for other architectural photographers: Are you members of the AIAP or IAAP, or any other trade associations, and if so, do you feel that you benefit from the membership? I'm considering joining the AIAP and trying to decide if it's worth $175.

Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to join the Association of Iranian-American Professionals (http://aiap.org/aiap/a_main.shtml)?:wink

:rofl

Of course it really stands for Alternative Interface Access Protocols (http://www.itl.nist.gov/iad/itaccess01/Presentations/Vanderheiden_Final_Presentation/)

(Just kidding - actually it's The Association of Independent Architectural Photographers (http://aiap.photographer.org/))

Urbis, I work for an architecture firm and today I had a meeting with one of the professional architectural photographers that we hire. We toured a recently completed project to select possible images t0 be shot in an upcoming photoshoot. I saw this post this past weekend, so I made it a point to ask our photographer your question. Although we didn't discuss the specific associations that you reference, the short answer that I got was that as a professional he found membership in the professional trade groups invaluable as a way to keep current with current and emerging issues in his particular segment of the market. I know this answer is a bit generic, but I hope it helps.

Thanks for the information. That's very helpful.
